(明報) 2009年 2月12日 星期四 05:05 達爾文在150年前提出的「進化論」，一直被指牴觸基督教「神創論」，長期遭到教廷打壓，直至50年前，教廷的態度才開始轉變。時任教宗庇護十二 世（Pius XII）在其1950年的教宗通諭《人類通諭》（Humani generis）中，首次提出支持研究及討論「進化學說」。若望保祿二世（John Paul II）1996年更在演講中宣稱進化論「不止是一個假設」，並指科學界的發現令進化論成為「有意義的論點」。 「智慧設計論」惹爭議 相比之下， 美國 一 些強硬派教徒提倡的「智慧設計論」（Intelligent Design），近年引起的爭議更大。「智慧設計論」中心思想是只有一個超越一切的智慧（暗指神）能夠形成地球複雜的生命形式。提倡者要求美國學校把這論 調納入科學課程，以反擊早已成為課程的進化論。但羅馬教廷不接受「智慧設計論」。教廷表示，下月初有關進化論的研討會上，只會把「智慧設計論」當作文化現 象討論，而非當成科學或神學議題。 泰晤士報/美聯社   it raises the question of the existence of god...a lifelong argument... worthwhile to start questioning and thinking
